I am someone who had her doctor's appointment last week and received some phenomenal news….
My blood sugar levels are better than ever! This has been a struggle for me since COVID when I was stressed and eating all kinds of carbs and candy, 😩.
I think some of you know I am a Type 1 Diabetic and have been for over 20+ years.
How did my mom know I had Type 1 Diabetes?
I was eight years old at the time and was always thirsty all the time! And I mean all the time. I was drinking water more than a normal person would. It got so bad that I couldn't sleep because I would get up to drink water and use the bathroom at all hours of the night. I became very weak and pale….
My mom took me to the doctor where they hooked me up to IVs and tested my blood sugar and it was over 400 😮! That was not good! The average blood sugar for someone without Diabetes is between 80-120!
That's when my mom received the horrible news that I had Type 1 Diabetes. No one in my family has it and I was not born with it. 🤷🏻♀️. Doctors said I must have gotten a bad cold that may have messed up my immune system and in turn affected my pancreas.
👉 Here's the kicker! Back then the doctor told my mom, “don't worry, there will be a cure for this in the future.”
Clearly, it's been over 20 + years and no cure has emerged!
My mom had to learn how to prick my fingers to check my blood sugar and learn how to inject me with insulin using long 💉 syringes. She is a trooper I tell ya! She's the most independent and strong woman I know and so grateful to call her mom.
But, no worries because now I have two devices attached to my body that help me live every day.

JIF creamy peanut butter
If you're team crunchy... we need to talk, ha-ha! I am #teamcreamy all the way. You will find my pup, Oakley and I enjoying a teaspoon of peanut butter every night.
02
COCOA BUTTER LIP BALM
I literally buy this in bulk twice a year from Walgreens and have been doing so for the last 6 years. I've never looked back! You can say this is a true obsession, ha-ha! Awkward, but an obsession nonetheless.

COOL TOUCH BED PILLOW
I have a confession to make... I get extremely hot when I sleep at night. So much so I had to invest in a cool touch pillow. This is in addition to lowering the AC to low 70s and cranking up the bedroom fan. You will find my hubby Andrew buried under the covers! *shrug emoji*
🤦🏻 During my teenage years, I even was afraid I couldn't ever get a boyfriend because of my disease. I am sure you remember the teenage years when you always cared what people thought. That was me!
I am now proud to share my disease with the world and I am OK with that. I can live a normal life with the two devices attached to my body.
And any chance I get to talk about Type 1 or meet others with the illness, I AM THERE.
👉 This is why…..I was invited to attend the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation networking event………And you're also invited to attend!
Props to my hubby 👏🏻Andrew👏🏻 for sharing this event with me. He is my number one supporter in making sure I take care of my Diabetes!
